Frequently asked questions
What is Global MAD Music Day?
On a single day, across the planet, bands and artists of all genres and abilities, will come together to create an unforgettable global musical experience, while raising funds for their chosen causes that matter to their communities.
In a world so full of chaos, mischief and need, MAD Music day will be a reminder of the power of music to do good and show that we can all play a part in bringing about positive change.]
How will Global MAD Music Day work?
SIMPLE:
Artists, find a venue, raise some money for a cause chosen by you.Venues, find some artists, raise some money for a cause chosen by you.
If you want to officially be part of the festival? Just signup above and let everyone know who you are, where you are and what you’re raising funds for. Then download the templates, posters and merchandise (once I’ve done it) to show your community and the world.
What is the cost?
Nothing. It doesn't cost anything to be a band or an artist or to host a gig for Global MAD Music Day. I simply want it to happen.
However, if you wish to help support the project and the ongoing costs of the website, you’re more than welcome to treat me to a cup of coffee... but only if you're able ☕
Why is it called MAD?
I wanted a name that would create interest and be easily remembered. I wanted something that would sell the idea of making a difference. AND then it hit me, MAD is an acronym for … MAKE A DIFFERENCE! Plus I’ve lost track of how many times I’ve been told that I must be mad to try it! 🤣
How can you contact us?
Fill out your registration and we'll be in touch. Or for general enquiries send us an email (link below). But if you want instant answers or you get ignored altogether, my apologies. There’s only me Matt and Mel Black here, trying to juggle this with running AND RADIO, Hangover Hill Recording Studios, while still being gigging musicians.
Is this festival sponsored?
Not at the moment. I’ve spent many hours trying to get some, but after getting close several times and a zillion wasted hours, I decided to stop chasing unicorns and do it myself … somehow. But moving forward ... who knows?
Who are the supporters at the foot of this website?
They are the fabulously magnanimous music loving folk that support my radio station AND RADIO. Which, by supporting that, they support me and consequently Global MAD Music Day. Hence their presence.
If you’d like to support AND RADIO please do. It's not essential, but would obviously be very welcome. Ask me for details here: info@andradio.co.uk
Can I support Global MAD Music Day?
Yes. If you really want to there are several ways to financially support the festival.
Become a sponsor of the festival
Become a sponsor on AND RADIO (starts at just £15pw)
Join our Crowdfunding page (when I've set it up)
Contribute to our Save The Children fundraising page (when I've set that up too ... but I'm working on it!)
Or simply listen to AND RADIO. It helps me know I'm not existing in a vacuum. :) x
How do I become part of it?
If you want to officially be part of Global MAD Music Day, simply register above and let everyone know who and where you are and what you’re raising funds for.
You’ll also be able to download official posters, promotional graphics and social media templates to help spread the word and show your community — and the world — that you’re part of it.
Why am I launching when it's not all ready?
Because it really needs to happen. AND Now! If I put everything off until I'd got everthing sorted, chances are it'd be next year or never. So ... over to you. I'm just throwing the idea out there and trying to galvanise and support it with some ideas and marketing help. It actually doesn't need me, you can do this on your own.
Who am I?
I'm Martin Perry, a muso from Southampton in England, UK that just wants to make a difference. I'm the amused harmonica player in the white shirt, standing next to a real musician, Tony Wright.

I've been a musician my entire life, juggling playing with other roles including design, marketing, publishing and broadcasting. AND I was pretty good at it, regularly employed by many blue chip organisations such as CASIO, Stena, American Express and more, as a consultant. So this should be a doddle! Haha... cough.
Regarding my credentials for Global MAD Music Day?
I am an experienced event and festival organiser. I proudly helped organise Southampton's premier multi venue festival Music In The City for many years. Originally as part of founder Mayor Linda Norris's team, which she passed on to me when she retired. Indeed it was through MITC l that I came up with the idea of how to quickly arrange festivals, which I did successfully for the emergencies of Ukraine and the Syrian & Turkish earthquakes: Artists find a venue - raise some money. Venues book some artists - raise some money. Simple and Quick!
Call me niave but I don't see why, with your help, that formula can't work anywhere and eveywhere?
So ... I'm giving it a go with Global MAD Music Day ... because the world needs a good day.
So ... go sort your GIG!
